Ruby's story

Ruby
Leigh Day has ‘dominated the field for many years’, and takes a ‘very caring and supportive’ approach. – Legal 500 2013
Ruby was effectively stillborn when her delivery was mishandled and had to be resuscitated.  Because she had been starved of oxygen for some time she suffered severe brain damage and kidney failure.  She is very seriously disabled having developed cerebral palsy, global developmental delay, epilepsy and autistic spectrum disorder. Ruby needs a lot of therapies many of which are not available on the NHS.

Birth injury specialist Russell Levy secured a lump sum of just over £1 million, including interim payments for Ruby which will allow her parents to buy a specially adapted vehicle, and a suitable property both of which were purchased before the conclusion of Ruby’s cases.  As well as the lump sum she received Ruby will be paid annual payments for the rest of her life.
